One of the TPAM (Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama) programs, TPAM Direction, seeks to introduce artists and works that promptly reflect the currents of performing arts in Asia and the world. Here we introduce performances directed by sound artist Aki Onda and Salt by Indonesian dancer and choreographer Eko Supriyanto.
Aki Onda Direction: Cassettes 100, Music for Five Pianos, Two Pianos and Four Winds composed by José Maceda
Aki Onda has researched Filipino composer José Maceda (1917-2004) for performances at TPAM 2019.
Cassettes 100 (1971) is a performance that 100 participants moved throughout the space with a cassette player (recently substitutes MP3 player) in hand, playing recordings of indigenous Filipino instruments and voices.
Music for Five Pianos (1993) is José Maceda's first piano piece, written at the request of Aki Takahashi. In addition to this piece, Two Pianos and Four Winds (1996), also Maceda's piano work, will be presented featuring pianists Aki Takahashi and Yuji Takahashi, and conductor Josefino Chino Toredo, all close and frequent collaborators with Maceda.

Eko Supriyanto: Salt
Indonesian Dancer/Choreographer Eko Supriyanto brought his works Cry Jailolo (TPAM2015) and Balabala (TPAM2017), both created with young people from the Indonesian province of North Maluku, reinterpreting and recontextualizing traditional battle dances in the region. After TPAM, these works were performed in various countries and were regarded internationally. In TPAM 2019, Eko concludes the trilogy with the choreographer's own solo performance Salt (2017).
