The Japan Foundation Asia Center is engaged in various online projects to continue international cultural exchange despite the spread of Covid-19 restricting cross-border travels.
As part of this effort, we are releasing online the video recording of "Setan Jawa - A Silent Film with a Live 3D Sound Concert" held on July 2, 2019. The video is now available for free viewing until 5:00 p.m. (JST) on January 17, 2022.
In this concert, the silent film Setan Jawa, directed by Indonesian master filmmaker Garin Nugroho under the concept of "expanded cinema," was combined with music and 3D sound effects specially composed in collaboration between Japan and Indonesia under the direction of sound designer MORINAGA Yasuhiro for the concert.
The stage featured sixteen performers from Indonesia and Japan, including KOM_I, the former vocalist of "Wednesday Campanella" who continues to be active as an artist, model and actress. It was the world premiere of Setan Jawa in 3D sound concert format, presented only on a single day. Do not miss this chance to see the rare performance.
Streaming period: until January 17, 2022 5:00 p.m. (JST).
